WEEK 3 COURSEWORK

Page history last edited by Teri Lesesne 1 mo ago

HERE ARE THE TASKS TO BE ACCOMPLISHED THIS WEEK, OCTOBER 19-25, 2009. BASICALLY, THESE ACTIVITIES INVOLVE POSTING, READING, POSING QUESTIONS, AND DEVELOPING AND ADMINSTERING A SURVEY.  IN ORDER TO SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETE THE COURSE, YOU MUST COMPLETE ITEMS #1-2 THIS WEEK.  ITEM #3 MUST BE COMPLETED NEXT WEEK.  ITEM #4 WILL BE AN ONGOING ASSIGNMENT.

  1. In the SideBar, click on the link for the page entitled T-A-R-G-E-T.  This is adapted from my book NAKED READING (Stenhouse, 2006) and discusses the critical attributes that professionals who work with tweens should possess.
  2. Once you have completed the reading in #1, post your reflections about the content and how it relates to the tween books (2) you have read for class.  This should be posted to the wiki page entitled REFLECTIONS ON TWEEN BOOK 2.
  3. Develop a short survey or questionnaire for some of your tweens.  You might want to know what genres of books they prefer or the kinds of programming and activities they would like.  Since we have a variety of participants in a vareity of different positions (teachers, aides, librarians, etc.), the surevy or questionnaire should reflect your particular needs.  It should be no more than one page (front only) and relatively short (5-10 items;  less is fine).  Permitting anaonymous completion ensures confidentiality and more than likely spurs completion as well.  You will administer this questionnaire/surveyand post the tool and some reporting of its findings on the wiki page entitled REPORTING OUT FROM THE SURVEY. This will be due next week.
  4. Should you have any questions you want to ask me or topics you wish to see addressed (other than the ones in the syllabus), you can always post them to the page QUESTIONS FOR TERI.  Of course, more burning questions should be sent to me directly via email (terilesesne@gmail.com or professornana@yahoo.com).
